The Texas Longhorns have an astounding 31 former players currently on 53-man rosters in the NFL. With so many stars across the 32 teams in the league, former Horns continue to cross paths as their teams meet on the field.
Most recently, wide receiver Jordan Whittington and defensive tackle Byron Murphy had the opportunity to catch up after the Seattle Seahawks (Murphy's team) and the Los Angeles Rams (Whittington's team) clashed.
Whittington and Murphy are just the latest Longhorns to swap jerseys and reminisce on their college days. Earlier this season, running back Bijan Robinson and wideout Xaiver Worthy swapped kits following the Kansas City Chiefs-Atlanta Falcons game.
Robinson also linked up with Jonathon Brooks this season when the Flacons faced the Carolina Panthers in Week 7.
When the Indianapolis Colts played against the Tennessee Titans during Week 6, a herd of Horns reunited. From quarterback Sam Ehlingher to TβVondre Sweat to Quandary Diggs, it was a reunion of the ages.
The Longhorns don't have the most players in the NFL out of collegiate football programs. Unsurprisingly, the Alabama Crimson Tide holds the top spot with 57 players on opening-night rosters. The Tide is followed by the Georgia Bulldogs with 49 former players in the NFL.
However, the SEC, Texas' new home, has an astonishing 367 former players in the big leagues, nearly 100 more than the next largest conference β the Big Ten with 288 players.
As the NFL season continues to unfold, it's guaranteed that more and more former Longhorns will have a chance to reunite. Not to mention that after the 2025 NFL Draft, even more Texas stars will, more likely than not, be in the league.
