After three years at Texas, the Longhorns had to wave goodbye to highly talented and beloved running back Jaydon Blue.
Blue had amassed 1,161 rushing yards for 11 touchdowns, alongside 503 receiving yards for seven more TDs, throughout his career, despite playing RB2 behind starting running back Quintrevion Wisner.
The Texas Longhorns' running back entered the 2025 NFL Draft and was taken in the fifth round by the Dallas Cowboys. After struggling with a couple of injuries during his rookie season, Blue looks more ready than ever to take over in Dallas.
In the Cowboys' second preseason game of the year, Blue had a performance that caught everyone's attention, playing extensive snaps as Dallas demolished the Arizona Cardinals 34-13.
Blue earned 75 rushing yards on just 15 carries, averaging 5 yards a run and logging a 15-yard carry in the second quarter.

The former Longhorn did everything he needed to in order to put the league on notice that his presence wasn't to be taken lightly, even if he's only heading into his second season in the NFL.
Most depth charts have Javonte Williams listed as the Boys' RB1, a sixth-year running back who came to Dallas via the Denver Broncos in 2025. Blue, by most accounts, is Dallas's RB2, already affording him a lot of playing time in the regular season.
However, his performance against the Cardinals may not have only earned him more snaps once the real deal kicks off, but pushed him that much closer to a starting job.
The most incredible moment came when Blue gathered the handoff from Dallas quarterback Joe Milton III, broke through the defensive line, hurdled Arizona's rookie safety Wydett Williams Jr., and stayed on his feet to earn about 10 more yards.
It even had the commentators speechless. It was a flawless play.

During his rookie season, after nursing both a pedal ankle sprain and a pedal heel bruise throughout the month of August, Blue earned 129 yards on a minimal 38 carries, finding the end zone just once
Of course, the preseason performance isn't a guarantee that Blue will have the same kind of performance in the regular season. Most teams play backups or third-stringers throughout the preseason.
However, it's still the NFL, where every single player is one of the best in the world, and Blue being able to put on a showcase as he did on Saturday night was a fantastic sign for the future.
The Cowboys have one more preseason game on Friday, Aug. 28, against the New Orleans Saints. Then, Dallas kicks off its regular season with a road trip to face none other than the New York Giants on Sunday, Sept. 13. Don't be surprised if Blue sees a lot of action in both matchups.
