Jaydon Blue is just a few months removed from his 14-touchdown season for the Texas Longhorns and the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, the former Texas running back is already making an impression at the next level.

Following a fall camp session, Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer compared Blue to a Super Bowl-winning running back, who was also a three-time Pro Bowler: Darren Sproles.

Sproles played 15 seasons in the league, securing Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles. During his professional career, Sproles amassed 3,552 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground. Not to mention his 4,840 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns through the air.

Simply put, Schottenheimer comparing Blue to Sproles is a massive compliment for the rookie running back, especially before he ever plays an in-game snap.

Blue and fellow Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner were thrust into the RB1 and RB2 roles ahead of the 2024 season when CJ Baxter went down with a torn LCL and PCL. The pair didn't hesitate in the sudden spotlight.

During his final season for Texas, Blue ran for 730 yards and eight touchdowns. He also earned 368 receiving yards and six touchdowns through the air. Additionally, the fullback had three kick return attempts where he gained 80 yards for the Horns.

Blue proved his worth during his third year at Texas, and it was a big reason why the Cowboys selected him in the fifth round of the Draft. Now, it's time for the running back to prove his worth at the next level.

The Cowboys are scheduled to start their preseason schedule against the LA Rams on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. CT. More likely than not, Texas and Dallas fans will be able to see Blue in action since preseason games are frequently used to test drive rookies ahead of their first real season in the league.
