After just two seasons with the Texas Longhorns and only one year with the Nevada Wolf Pack, one running back returned to the transfer portal, still searching for his home in the world of college football.
Savion Red was on the Horns' roster for two years, redshirted during his true freshman season, and had just 30 carries during the 2023 season for Texas. Afterward, Red transferred to Nevada, where he earned a large portion of the Wolf Pack's offensive load.
During the 2024 season, the former Longhorn had 119 carries for 687 yards and eight touchdowns. He also earned 74 additional yards on 16 receptions for the Wolf Pack. Then, Red entered the portal once again despite his relatively impressive season with Nevada.

During his sophomore season with Texas, Sarkisian transitioned the true wide receiver to running back, in hopes of creating "more opportunities for him."
Coming out of high school, Red was a three-star prospect, and the Texas native had offers from programs like Kansas, TCU, and SMU alongside the Longhorns. According to 247Sports, Red still maintains his three-star rating as a transfer player.
Before he transferred to Nevada, there were a lot of expectations surrounding Red, even though he shared a running back room with stars like Jaydon Blue, CJ Baxter, and more elite backs.

Red initially committed to the Longhorns on Dec. 15, 2021, and signed with Texas on the same day. He was an early enrollee, joining the Horns in Austin on Jan. 2, 2022, ahead of his true-freshman season.
During his senior season in high school, Red earned 985 total yards and eight total touchdowns through the air while playing both wide receiver and quarterback for Grand Prairie High School.
