As some of you may or may not know, former Texas wide receiver and current Packers' 1st-round draft pick Matthew Golden, has switched his number from No.22 to No.0 heading into week one.

The significance of the switch is that he's going to be the first player in Green Bay's history to wear the number in an NFL game for the team.

"They said zero never been worn here, so obviously it’s gonna be first time in franchise history. For me, I just wanna make a name for myself and that number."

Golden has been absolutely electric throughout the offseason in Green Bay, already making a name for himself due to his elite route-running skills, electric speed, and consistent playmaking ability after the catch.

He's currently in line to be one of the Packers' starting outside receivers alongside Jayden Reed in the slot for Jordan Love and Co. on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

Green Bay HC Matt LaFleur had something to say about Golden's year one impact with the team as well:

"It's a credit to him and certainly our coaches of getting them schooled up. Unfortunately, we've had a lot of guys miss time, but I would say the byproduct of that is he gets more opportunity, and he was able to take advantage of those opportunities throughout the course of not only the offseason program, but throughout training camp."

Yes, the Packers have had quite a few injuries in the wide receiver room this offseason, but like coach LaFleur said, Golden took advantage of that fact and proceeded to completely blow away the coaching staff in 2025.

It's going to be incredibly fun to watch Matthew Golden fly around the field with his 4.29 speed on Sunday with a Packers uniform on. He was one of the most underrated players in the 2025 NFL Draft class, and he has a great opportunity to make a name for himself this weekend.
