Will Muschamp has been completely immersed in the Texas Longhorns football program since the moment he announced his return for 2026, and the players have undoubtedly been feeling the effects of his presence already.
Everytime you turn around, another defender has something nice to say about him and his overall aura as a coach. He's always been known for his ability to relate to players and it's pretty safe to say that his reputation continues to precede him in Austin.
Will Muschamp has been the talk of spring practice
Texas star safety Jelani McDonald recently spoke about Muschamp in a spring media session:
“His intensity pours out on the whole team. The energy he brings to practice. His professionalism is just so high. We have to follow him and pour into what he’s going to build.”
This is the type of thing that so many of his players rave about, and as a student athlete, it's incredibly important to be motivated by your coaching staff. There are going to be some days where you don't feel as enthused about going to practice and exerting the type of energy that's required to grow and develop as a player.
When a coach can help motivate and bring the boom (pun intended) to a practice session, the amount of energy and hype that follows is something that can only be described as electric.
It helps that he's an absolute menace as a playcaller and schemer as well. McDonald also commented on his overall defensive style as well:
“It’s more versatile. It’s going to give me more things to put on my resume.”
Some coaches don't like to overcomplicate things for their players, but Muschamp has the uncanny ability to teach his scheme in a way that's easy for players to digest and implement quickly.
Very few coaches in general have the type of overall presence that Will Muschamp has both on the field and in the locker room, and it's crystal clear that the Longhorns' defense will follow him to the ends of the earth right now.
