The Texas Longhorns are playing their best basketball of the season at the best time possible.

After barely punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, the Horns pulled off victories over the NC State Wolfpack in the First Four and the BYU Cougars in the Round of 64. Now, the No. 11-seed Texas has to face the No. 3-seed Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Despite the Longhorns peaking right when they needed to and having pulled off two upsets already, the Vegas oddsmakers are still placing serious doubt on Texas being able to keep its head above water in the Second Round.

Opening odds for (11) Texas vs. (3) Gonzaga

  • Spread: -5.5 Gonzaga
  • Moneyline: -245 Gonzaga, +198 Texas
  • Over-under: +/-147.5 points

Now, don't get it wrong, two upsets don't always lead to a third, but giving the Bulldogs a double-digit edge over the Longhorns is disrespectful at best.

The Wolfpack was a 1.5-point favorite over Texas, but the Horns pulled off the two-point victory behind Tramon Mark's game-winner. The Cougars were 2.5-point favorites over the Longhorns, and Texas pulled off the eight-point upset behind Matas Vokietaitis's dominant performance.

Meanwhile, three-seed Gonzaga just eked out a nine-point win over the 14-seed Kennesaw State Owls to start their postseason run.

Yet, oddsmakers still aren't willing to give Texas credit where credit is due, in the form of betting odds at the very least.

Texas and Gonzaga are scheduled to tip off at 6:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 21. The second-round game will be broadcast on TBS and truTV.
