Head coach Rodney Terry and No. 19 Texas basketball (0-1, 0-0 SEC) are looking to regroup after their regular season opener loss in Las Vegas on Nov. 4 to the Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 80-72.

Texas struggled to get consistent offense going against Ohio State on Monday night, outside of an insane 29-point performance from true freshman shooting guard Tre Johnson.

After multiple long scoring droughts and bad three-point shooting efficiency in the loss to Ohio State, Johnson and the Longhorns can get on the right page against the Houston Christian Huskies (1-0, 0-0 Southland) in their home opener on Nov. 8.

Amid a three-game gap between Quad 1 opponent contests during the non-con in November and early December, the Longhorns need to make the most for the cohesion of the team against teams like Houston Christian on Friday night at the Moody Center.

Here's a look at the TV/streaming information, game time, betting odds, and game prediction for the regular season opener between No. 19 Texas and Houston Christian at the Moody Center in Austin, TX, on Nov. 8.

Texas basketball vs. Houston Christian betting odds

The betting odds haven't been released as of the writing of this article on Nov. 6 for the Texas-Houston Christian game on Nov. 8.

We will publish the updated betting odds once they're released later this week for the Texas-Houston Christian game.

Texas vs. Houston Christian prediction

Johnson became the first true freshman for the Longhorns to score over 20 points in their collegiate debut game since Kevin Durant in 2006.

Being able to get the offense going around Johnson and find more cohesiveness and chemistry with this group of new transfers and high school recruiting additions in the core part of the rotation will be crucial in these upcoming tune-up games.

Texas has other key scorers, including senior forward Arthur Kaluma, junior guard Jordan Pope, and senior center Kadin Shedrick who can put the basketball in the hoop from multiple levels of the floor in the settled half court offense. The question of whether the Longhorns can get the offensive systems setup to consistently thrive and move the ball effectively on that end of the floor needs to be answered against Houston Christian.

Score prediction: Texas-88, Houston Christian-62
