Texas basketball (12-6, 1-4 SEC) returns to the Moody Center on Tuesday night (Jan. 21) to battle a rolling Missouri Tigers (15-3, 4-1 SEC) squad that is ranked in both major polls for the first time this season this week.
Head coach Dennis Gates and Mizzou are one of the early surprises in the first few weeks of SEC conference play in the month of January. Mizzou has won four straight games in SEC play, including an upset win in Gainesville over the No. 5 Florida Gators on Jan. 14.
Texas is still looking to find its footing in SEC play. Head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns dropped four out of their first five games in SEC play. But the schedule does lighten up in the coming weeks, as Texas had to face three opponents ranked in the top five in the AP Poll and Coaches Poll in early-to-mid January to start conference play off.

Texas vs. Missouri prediction
Mizzou promises to be one of the most efficient offensive teams Texas faces in the SEC. The Tigers have scored at least 75 points in all but one of its 18 games this season, tied for the most of any SEC team.
Among Mizzou's starting five and the sixth man in the core part of the rotation, four of those players shoot over 35 percent from beyond the arc. This Mizzou team scored 83 points in Gainesville against a Florida defense that held Texas to just 60 points and the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers to a measly 43 points.
The theme for the Longhorns remains the same, after Texas was defeated by a margin of 17 points by the Gators in the second half to lose all control of that game down the stretch late. Texas hasn't played a complete 40-minute game against a Quad 1 or Quad 2 opponent this season in a true home or road contest.
Freshman guard Tre Johnson has been leading the Longhorns in points, including a team-high 16 points in the loss to Florida. Texas needs more scoring support around Johnson and better results on the glass to be more successful on both ends of the floor.
