Texas basketball's (6-1, 0-0 SEC) matchup in the SEC/ACC Challenge will be against the NC State Wolfpack (5-2, 0-0 ACC) at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, NC, on Dec. 4.

This game will be a great opportunity for head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns to show how far they've come since the regular season opener loss in Vegas in early November to the Ohio State Buckeyes. NC State is the first true road game for the Longhorns this season.

Texas vs. NC State prediction

NC State is a team with a ton of experience in the starting five, with all five starters being seniors who have each played over 100 career games in college. The Wolfpack have a lot of length in the starting five and with some of its top bench players, namely senior 6-foot-10 big man Ben Middlebrooks.

A Texas squad that is still trying to find its identity on the defensive end of the floor can ill-afford to let up defensively against NC State. The Wolfpack are 5-0 this season when scoring over 70 points.

Offensively, freshman guard Tre Johnson and the Longhorns will be challenged by a disruptive and experienced NC State defense. NC State ranks sixth in the ACC in team defensive rating and fifth in opponent true shooting percentage. The Wolfpack do a great job of getting into passing lanes to cause havoc defensively and disrupt shots on a regular basis.

This will be a good battle between two of the top conferences in college hoops and one of the best offensive teams in the SEC against one of the better defensive teams in the ACC.
