Texas basketball (7-2, 0-0 SEC) can get a bounce-back win tonight at the Moody Center against the New Mexico State Aggies (4-5, 0-0 C-USA) after a double-digit loss to the No. 25 UConn Huskies last weekend in Austin.

Head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns had a seven-game winning streak snapped by the reigning back-to-back National Champion UConn, by a score of 76-65, on Dec. 8 at the Moody Center.

New Mexico State has been struggling lately, losing five of its last six games after getting off to a hot 3-0 start early in the regular season. The Aggies snapped its five-game losing streak with a big win in overtime last weekend (Dec. 7) over the in-state rival New Mexico Lobos.

This game against New Mexico State is important for the Longhorns to find their identity on offense and to find more consistency from the frontcourt rotation.

Here's a look at the TV/streaming information, game time, betting odds, and game prediction for Texas vs. New Mexico State at the Moody Center in Austin, TX, on Dec. 12.

Texas vs. New Mexico State prediction

CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reports on Dec. 12 that Texas will be without senior forward Jayson Kent due to an injury. Kent has missed the last five games for the Longhorns, last playing in the win over Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 16 at the Moody Center.

Still without Kent, Texas's frontcourt depth will be tested against a New Mexico State that just beat an NCAA Tournament contender on the bubble on the road in overtime last weekend in New Mexico. Texas needs bigger contributions in the frontcourt from senior big man Kadin Shedrick, senior power forward Ze'Rik Onyema, and some of the other young bigs coming off the bench.

In the past few games, the Longhorns have been very reliant on the scoring production of freshman guard Tre Johnson and senior forward Arthur Kaluma. Johnson and Kaluma combined for roughly half of Texas's points in the loss to UConn last weekend.

The secondary scoring support from experienced and proven guards/wings in the rotation, like junior Jordan Pope, senior Tramon Mark, and senior Julian Larry, needs to be more present before SEC play begins in early January against Texas A&M.

Final score prediction: Texas-84, New Mexico State-68
