Texas basketball (16-10, 5-8 SEC) and head coach Rodney Terry got a well-timed week off before the final stretch run of SEC play this week. Terry and Co. needed the week off to heal up and recover after a couple of key players have missed multiple games in conference play in mid-February due to various lower-body injuries.
There's a chance that both senior forward Arthur Kaluma and junior guard Chendall Weaver could return from lower-body injuries in the next handful of games for the Longhorns in SEC play.
It looks like Kaluma is more likely to return to the lineup for the Longhorns this weekend on Saturday night against the South Carolina Gamecocks (10-16, 0-13 SEC) in Columbia than Weaver.
South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris is trying to keep his team fighting through SEC play. The Gamecocks have dropped all 13 games in SEC play this regular season. But Paris' squad has fought hard in close losses in the past few weeks, including a four-point loss last week to the No. 19 Ole Miss Rebels and an overtime defeat in late January against the No. 14 Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Texas vs. South Carolina prediction
For the last time this regular season, the Longhorns have back-to-back road games in SEC play this Saturday against South Carolina and next Wednesday in Fayetteville against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Last season, South Carolina was a very formidable squad in the SEC. Paris and the Gamecocks finished second in the SEC last season and earned a six-seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling to the 11-seed Oregon Ducks in the Round of 64.
Since South Carolina lost its top two scorer, Meechie Johnson and B.J. Mack, due to exhausted eligibility and the transfer portal, the Gamecocks have really struggled offensively this season. The Gamecocks have only scored over 70 points in one SEC game this season, against the No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies in a two-score loss in early February.
If the Longhorns get Kaluma back tomorrow against South Carolina, it could be a big opportunity for the senior forward and the SEC's leading scorer Tre Johnson to get Texas a comfortable win on the offensive end. South Carolina's last two opponents, Florida and LSU, have shot a combined 56 percent from the field against the Gamecocks' defense.
