After suffering its first loss to an unranked foe on home court at the Moody Center against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday night, Texas basketball (15-8, 4-6 SEC) hits the road for a weekend face-off against the Vanderbilt Commodores in SEC play.
Saturday afternoon will see Texas's one and only SEC matchup this regular season against Vandy. The last time these two teams faced each other at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville was in the 1988-89 season.
This game could viably be classified as a "must-win" contest for head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns. Texas could easily slip into a three or four-game losing streak at a key point of SEC play down the stretch this regular season if it falls to an unranked Vandy squad this weekend in Nashville.

Texas vs. Vanderbilt prediction
Texas is dealing with a handful of injury issues heading into this matchup this upcoming weekend against the Commodores. The Longhorns had a couple of key injuries to the frontcourt/forward rotation vs. Arkansas. Senior big man Kadin Shedrick suffered back spasms in the first half, but returned to the court in the second half against the Hogs for Texas on Wednesday.
Sophomore forward Devon Pryor suffered a lower-body injury in the second half against Arkansas that caused him to miss the rest of the game. Texas has also been missing sophomore guard Chendall Weaver due to a lower-body injury for the past eight games.
Vandy has been a tough out on its home court this season. The Commodores only have one loss in Nashville this season, meaning it has two ranked wins over top 10 foes in SEC play against the No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats on Jan. 25 and the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers on Jan. 18.
The goal for tomorrow's game is pretty straightforward for the Longhorns, slow down guard Jason Edwards' scoring and forward Devin McGlockton's rebounding. Edwards ranks fifth in the SEC in scoring, at a clip of 17.6 points per game. McGlockton is tied with senior Texas forward Arthur Kaluma for eighth in the SEC, at a clip of 7.9 rebounds per game.
