Throughout the week, it looked like there was some hope for Wisner to play against Sam Houston, but now it appears as though he's officially doubtful for tonight's matchup.

Sarkisian recently said that:

"Tre [Wisner] is making really good progress right now, however, I would say he's doubtful for Saturday, but I've been impressed with the progress that he's making."

Wisner entered the 2025 season as the SEC's only returning 1,000 rusher, and he had a nice game against Ohio State in week 1. He rushed 16 times for 80 yards, averaging 5.0 ypc against a really good Buckeye defense.

Though he's been extremely missed in Texas' backfield, C.J. Baxter, Jerrick Gibson, and Christian Clark have been doing a great job in his absence over the past couple of weeks. Unfortunately, Baxter is also out for today's game due to a hamstring injury that he suffered last week against UTEP on the first offensive play of the game.

True freshman RB James Simon also had an incredibly nice game in week 3, gaining 75 total scrimmage yards in his Longhorns debut.

Expect to see a heavy dose of Gibson, Clark, and Simon tonight against a struggling Sam Houston defense. This is an excellent "get right" game for Texas' offense before they head to Florida on October 4th.

Aside from the run game needing to develop in some aspects, Arch Manning needs to show that he's making improvements after last week's disastrous performance against UTEP.
