The relationship between the Texas Longhorns and basketball phenom Kevin Durant has never disappeared or even dissipated. As Durant has gone through his nearly two-decade-long career in the NBA, he has ensured that his love for the Horns has been well known.
Recently, the former Texas star earned yet another honor at the professional level for his committed efforts both on and off the court throughout the past regular season.
On Wednesday, May 14, the Professional Basketball Writers Association (PBWA) announced that Durant had been awarded the 2024-25 Magic Johnson Award, given to "the NBA player who best combines excellence on the court with cooperation in working with the media."
This is far from the first award Durant has won since turning pro in 2007, not to mention being the National College Player of the Year, a consensus All-American, and the Big 12 Player of the Year during his singular season with the Horns, as well as having Texas retire his No. 35 jersey.
