It was just revealed that Longhorns basketball legend Kevin Durant, along with Nike have officially teamed up to create a new NIL program for Texas athletes. It was also announced that women's basketball star Madison Booker will be the first athlete signed by the enterprise.
Durant has been open about his love for the university many times in the past, and he reaffirmed it during the announcement:
"My time at UT had a huge impact on not only my basketball career, but on me personally," said Kevin Durant. "Supporting players during their college playing career was always a goal, and I'm thrilled to be able to expand our partnership with UT, bring Boardroom into the mix, and create programming that benefits all UT student-athletes."Â

Madison Booker was also obviously honored and excited to learn she'd be the first player signed:
"It means a lot to be a Nike athlete," said Madison Booker. "Honestly, it's a blessing. I think that's also part of why I came to UT – the opportunities here are amazing."
Not only will it be a "basic" NIL program, but they'll be having yearly summits with current and former pro athletes and different marquee speakers. The first summit will take place later in 2026 and feature content and storytelling strategy sessions, financial literacy planning, and more, according to Texaslonghorns.com.
