There have been a lot of questions regarding Texas' offensive line this offseason, both from an overall talent level and depth standpoint. Though we probably won't know about the talent level until the 2025 season gets here, Flood provided some clarity on a few of the depth questions in today's coordinator media session.
One of the biggest question marks heading into 2025 has revolved around the right tackle position. RS-So. Andre Cojoe and So. Brandon Baker appeared to be the top options in the spring, both rotating in and out of the 1st-team unit at a fairly equal snap share.
Flood confirmed that it's still Cojoe and Baker competing for the spot and that the next couple of weeks are going to be very crucial for the players.
"It's definitely going to be a camp battle. One of the advantages we have is that they’re going to play against a really talented Edge group in training camp."
Coach Flood brings up an excellent point. Cojoe and Baker competing against the likes of Colin Simmons, Ethan Burke, Colton Vasek, and Brad Spence every day will undoubtedly test their overall ability and readiness heading into week one.
He was also asked about the 2025 class of offensive linemen and how they're looking so far. Flood specifically mentioned how both Nick Brooks and Jackson Christian have progressed well, but then stated that training camp is going to be the real test for the youngsters.
When asked about the Coleman brothers, Devin and Jordan, Flood said:
"They’re still getting caught up a little bit. Watching them move around in the summer, I’m really excited about their futures."
The twins from Cedar Hill HS (Cedar Hill, TX) are both 3-star offensive guard recruits that are listed at 6'5", 350 pounds. The mammoth interior linemen still need time to develop, as they're both fairly raw when it comes to overall technique.
