One of the hottest and most sought-after topics during spring practice has been how Arch Manning and Texas' high-powered group of wide receivers have looked. Though seeing Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo working together in Steve Sarkisian's offense is undoubtedly exciting, the offensive line progression and development should be the real focal point right now. Thankfully, we got some good information on how things have looked in the trenches over the past month or so.

Texas OL coach Kyle Flood answered every question that he was asked today after practice, and some of what he said should be thrilling for the fanbase to hear.

When asked about Brandon Baker and how his transition to offensive guard has been going, he said:

“He’s done very well. He’s had a very good spring. It was a very smooth transition for him.”

Just from a spectator standpoint, this checks out. Baker has looked good moving around and has definitely been able to hold his own against Texas' bigger interior defensive linemen.

When it comes to one of the unit's biggest questions this offseason, which is who is going to be the backup center, Flood said that four guys have actually been working at center throughout camp: Connor Robertson, Jackson Christian, Dylan Sikorski, and Devin Coleman. He even mentioned that Brandon Baker and John Turntine have been training at center as well, which was pretty interesting. I'm assuming that those two guys are most likely the emergency options.

The last piece of intriguing information that we found out is that true freshman OT John Turntine is all the way up to 292 lbs. right now. This speaks to the amount of work that he's been doing to put on healthy weight after getting to Texas around the 270 to 275-pound mark. Turntine's somebody to watch out for heading into the 2027 season, as he's already been practicing as the 2nd-team right tackle behind Melvin Siani in practice.
