The recruiting wins just keep coming for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian. With the No. 1 recruiting class of 2025 and a rising class of 2026, the Longhorns are looking primed for success for years to come.

On Tuesday, April 15, Rivals' national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman shared even more good news for the Horns as Texas, the Washington Huskies, and the Michigan Wolverines reportedly emerged as favorites for four-star safety Chace Calicut.

Calicut, the No. 16 safety in the class of 2026 and the No. 23 overall athlete out of the state of Texas, has official visits scheduled with those three schools, as well as the Ole Miss Rebels. He is scheduled to visit the Horns over the weekend of June 13.

Calicut already visited Texas at the beginning of the year and is currently crystal balled to end up with the Longhorns, by both On3 and 247Sports. Not to mention, the young safety grew up less than 150 miles from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.

Who is Chace Calicut?

Calicut grew up in Houston and has played two seasons of varsity football for North Shore High School, a school that has produced nearly two dozen NFL prospects throughout its history, including multiple defensive backs.

At 6-foot-3, Calicut has good length for the safety position, but at just 190 pounds, he is slightly underweight for the collegiate average in the role.

Currently, Texas has the No. 13 recruiting class of 2026, a far cry from its No. 1 ranking for the year before. However, as Sarkisian builds his class and continues to bring in highly productive players from the transfer portal, the Longhorns will continue to sit in a better and better position for the future.
