There's a certain expectation around the 40 Acres that the Longhorns will continuously represent the very best of the school, and that much was certainly true as the Texas women's basketball team took the court last night against the Northern Colorado Bears.
Led by seventh-year head coach Vic Schaefer and a slew of blue-chip talent, the Horns have been one of Texas's most successful programs over the last few years, and that has been due, in large part, to the presence of forward Madison Booker.
Now in her senior year, the expectations for Booker are as high as ever, and boy, did she answer the call last night. For just the third time in her collegiate career, Booker racked up 30 points to push the Horns to their 91-29 victory over the Bears and to help them improve to 2-0 on the season.

It was the second game of the season, and in accordance with what should be expected, Booker led the team in scoring in both games, racking up a whopping 54 points to start out the year.
Vic Schaefer has Texas's defense in top form just 2 games into the season
Clearly, when looking at the score, you can tell that it wasn't only Booker's offensive performance that was noteworthy, but the entire team's defensive performance as well. Texas forced 32 turnovers by Northern Colorado and, most impressively, held the Bears to just three (yes, 3) points in the second quarter.
Simply put, Schaefer's squad played out of its mind as it took down the team from the Big Sky Conference.
Alongside Booker's impressive showing, senior center Breya Cunningham had yet another impressive performance as well, earning 10 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Freshman forward Brihanna Crittendon and freshman guard Addison Bjorn also had double-digit nights, combining for 24 points off the bench.
While it was a 62-point victory for the Horns, there will undoubtedly be things that Schaefer wants to work on, such as starting guard Zya Vann shooting 0% from the field and committing two turnovers, as well as the Horns getting outrebounded on their offensive side of the court, only bringing down 11 offensive rebounds while the Bears snagged 19 on defense.
Of course, despite Texas committing just eight turnovers and only 11 personal fouls, Schaefer will undoubtedly want to see those numbers continue to trend in a downward direction as he continues to expect the absolute best from his players.
Up next, the Longhorns will host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Moody Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on the SEC Network. More likely than not, Texas will improve to 3-0 on the year.
