Over the last two years, Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has been touted as the guy to bring the team back to relevance, and he has done that... sort of.
While the Aggies made the College Football Playoff last season, they were only able to put up three (3) total points in their first-round matchup, which they hosted in College Station.
Texas A&M still has yet to appear in the SEC Championship game, despite joining the conference over a decade ago, and has yet to defeat the Texas Longhorns since the two rivals were reunited in 2024.
Despite those two glaring flaws in Reed's resume, the Aggies' QB1 decided to lash out against the Horns, going on a tirade about just how much he hates Texas.
"I hate the color orange... The colors just look so ugly. Everywhere you go (in Austin), you see that color orange. Burnt orange? Who likes burnt orange? Texas, it’s the rival, bro. You gotta hate them," Reed said. "We don’t like Texas. I don’t like Texas. It sucks that we’ve lost to them twice. But they’re coming here this year, so they’re gonna have to pay. I’ve got something for them, for sure."
Well, that's certainly one way to put your foot in your mouth.

Marcel Reed's hatred for the Longhorns will only add fuel to Texas's fire
Over the last two seasons, Texas outscored Texas A&M by a combined scoreline of 44-24, and the Horns put on defensive clinics in both showings, absolutely silencing Reed's usual noise.
In fact, two of the worst performances in his entire career have come against the Longhorns:
- 2024: 146 passing yards, 0 passing TDs, 1 INT, 60 rushing yards, 0 rushing TDs, 1 fumble
- 2025: 180 passing yards, 0 passing TDs, 2 INTs, 71 rushing yards, 0 rushing TDs
In 2024, Reed's average QBR was 75.4, but against Texas it was an abysmal 58.7. In 2025, he saw a slight improvement against the Horns, recording a QBR of 64.8, but it was still a far cry from his season average of 75.6
For someone who has earned less than 460 total yards, has scored zero touchdowns, and has produced four turnovers in two games, Reed sure has a lot to say about Texas.
While there is no need for Texas players to respond to Reed's comments (in fact, it would be better if they refrained from doing so), they could undoubtedly serve as a little extra motivation for the Horns to ensure that Reed has yet another terrible showing in the regular-season finale.
This season, No. 5 Texas and No. 8 Texas A&M are scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 27, and the Lone Star Showdown will be broadcast on ABC. Everyone, and I mean everyone, should tune in to see how this year's rivalry matchup unfolds.
