Dawson Battie, the No.3-ranked PF recruit in the 2027 class, has scheduled an unofficial visit to Texas on March 7th according to 247Sports.com. This is great news for Longhorns basketball as Battie has only scheduled visits to Texas and Nebraska as of right now.

Battie, a 6'8", 210-pound big man was originally offered by Sean Miller and Co. back in June, and has been in constant contact with the team ever since. The nephew of Texas Tech basketball legend and former 1st-round NBA pick, Tony Battie, has been climbing up the recruiting boards over the past year due to his strong frame and interior scoring ability.

Not only can he be an asset at the rim when it comes to offense, he's developed a really nice mid-range jumper and can pivot to that shot when he struggles against taller players. Yes, 6'8" is tall but he'll undoubtedly be facing bigger players at the FBS level, so being able to work around that is crucial for power forwards and centers.

His overall athleticism, scoring ability, and positional flexibility are the main reasons why he's been one of the more sought-after power forwards as of late. Battie also has a really nice frame and a solid build, with the potential to add some weight at the collegiate level without slowing down or losing quickness.

As of right now, there doesn't seem to be anyone in the "lead" for his committment and Texas wants to make sure that they make a good impression during his visit. Going forward, the Longhorns are going to need talented front court players once Matas Vokietaitis, Lassina Traore, and Camden Heide leave.
