Barryn Sorrel was one of more than a dozen former Longhorns selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, his draft night may have stood out a little more than others as he sat through the first three rounds and waited in Green Bay to hear his name called.
He was the only player to be drafted after the first three rounds to walk out onto the stage and receive a hug from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, making the former Texas star's draft day dreams come true.

The on-stage interaction wasn't the only special moment during Sorrell's draft night. The NFL also surprised the young defensive edge rusher with a video from his mom, which has since gone viral and tugged on the heartstrings of football fans across the country.
"Congratulations, son. I love you more than words, and we all know how thoroughly I love words," his mother said.
She went on to talk about his childhood and his journey through high school and college, all the way through to the draft. She talked about his determination and diligence to get to "the end goal." His mother was clearly a strong supporter of his journey as she made sure anything he needed, he got.
After the video concluded, Sorrell got to respond to everything his mother said and expressed his reciprocal love and appreciation for his mother.
"Man, I ain't got no more tears left, so good thing I pulled 'em all out earlier because goodness," Sorrell said. "Just thankful, man. She was there, she's seen it all, so I'm just so happy that she's here to enjoy this with me."
Sorrell grew emotional, and yes, even teared up, as he spoke about how much he loves his mother and how much she sacrificed to get him to the place he is in today, calling her his "everything."
