3 Texas true freshmen expected to make an impact on offense in 2025

The Longhorns had the No.1 recruiting class in the nation in 2025, and a few members of the class could see a surprising amount of playing time on offense this season.

Texas' coaching staff and recruiting department absolutely killed it in the 2025 recruiting cycle, beating out the likes of Ohio State, Georgia, and Alabama for the top-ranked class in the country. Though plenty of players could see time as true freshman this year, three specific guys have been standing out on the offensive side of the ball this summer.

Based on what's been coming out of the team's media sessions and what's been happpeining on the field, we've come up with a list of three true freshman offensive players who could see a good amount of playing time in 2025.

OT Nick Brooks - 6'7", 349 lbs.

Brooks has been looking great in practice, and with the injury to Andre Cojoe earlier in fall camp, he appears to be the top option to backup Brandon Baker at right tackle.

Brooks' size and length is incredible to see in person, and it looks like he came into the summer program ready to work and learn. He's been showing flashes of greatness with the 2nd-team offense, and he'll definitiely see the field in 2025 when Brandon Baker needs a breather.

WR Daylan McCutcheon - 5'11", 178 lbs.

McCutcheon has been really good since the moment he stepped on the practice field for Texas. He's been showing off his sudden and fairly-refined route running skills from the slot and has given the starting defense trouble from time to time.

When asked about two young players he’s connected with most so far, Arch Manning said:

"I think Parker [Livingstone] has had a really good spring, and he's having a good fall camp. Then Daylan McCutcheon's been doing really well, smart, crafty, so I'm really excited about those two guys."

McCutcheon could end up rotating in the slot this season with DeAndre Moore Jr. and Aaron Butler.

WR Kaliq Lockett - 6'2", 185 lbs.

Lockett is someone who started off a bit slow, but began to pick up steam throughout the early summer and fall camp recently. He's built incredibly well, with unusually long arms that give him a huge advantage at the catch point.

Yes, 6'2" is pretty big for a wide receiver, but Lockett looks even bigger than that when on the field. It also looks like he'll be entering the 2025 season with the backup "X" role locked down, as he's been rotating in with Ryan Wingo over the past two weeks.

God forbid, if something were to happen to Ryan Wingo this season, the coaching staff feels like Lockett would be able to provide some valuable reps in his place.
