No. 4 Texas (7-0) squared off with No. 2 South Carolina (7-1) in the Player Era Championship Game—exactly the kind of matchup that reminds you why we love this sport. High-level play, big moments, and a finish that came down to the final seconds. Texas wins it, 66-64. Before diving in, a huge congratulations to Rori Harmon, now the all-time assists leader (777) in Texas Women’s Basketball history. A legendary milestone for a legendary Longhorn.
Here are my post-game thoughts and the players of the game:
Players of the Game
Jordan Lee, Guard (#7)
19 points • 2 rebounds • 3 assists • 100% FT
Lee brought poise and scoring punch all night, stepping into her shots with confidence and delivering when Texas needed buckets.
Rori Harmon, Guard (#3)

6 points • 4 rebounds • 9 assists • Go-ahead bucket in the closing seconds
Harmon didn’t have a scoring explosion—but she didn’t need one. She controlled pace, found shooters, and once again proved she’s built for big moments.
What I liked
Texas controlled the glass, winning the rebounding battle 39–32, and that energy on the defensive boards created the extra possessions you need against a top-two team. Statistically, these squads were nearly identical—no glaring edges either way. This one came down to pure playmaking, and when crunch time arrived, Harmon stepped up like she always does.
You can’t overstate the value of having a guard who can create her own shot when everything breaks down. Texas had that advantage in the final minute, and it showed.
Turnovers? Still the one area to clean up. Fifteen giveaways is too many, especially against elite competition. But I’m not knocking the performance—the Longhorns competed, battled, and once again showed why they’re one of the must-watch teams in the country.
