Texas women's basketball hosted the Georgia Bulldogs in the final regular-season home game on their 2025/2026 schedule. They still have a shot to host a regional in the opening rounds of the NCAA women's basketball tournament if they do well in the SEC women's basketball tournament. However, that's a ways away before they find out what happens. What really matters is if the rest of the SEC is paying attention to how the Longhorns are playing leading up to the conference tournament.

I literally stood up from my couch and gave them a round of applause after their first-quarter performance. Texas had no issues whatsoever against the Bulldogs at the Moody Center last night, winning 79-50. I'm starting to think the Longhorns are about to give the conference a run for its money.
Here are four takeaways from another amazing Longhorns win at the Moody Center.

1. Another signature start to the game
The Longhorns got off to an 11-0 start against the Bulldogs last night, and based on some of the shots Georgia was taking, I thought it was going to be an even better start than the 11-0 run.
If the Longhorns can replicate how they started last night against teams like Vanderbilt and South Carolina in the SEC women's basketball tournament, good luck stopping Texas from winning the championship.

2. Making quality shots against the Bulldogs
Another thing that will make the Longhorns tough to beat in the SEC tournament is if they continue to make quality shots. Vic Schaefer had an excellent night calling the shots on offense, making sure all his ladies got the ball in their hands.
Earlier in the season, the Longhorns won some huge games by consistently making quality shots. Texas is going to be a tough team to beat in the conference tournament if they shoot the ball like they did the last two games.
3. Justice Carlton taking the lead last night
Justice Carlton decided that she wanted to help lead the team and put on a show for the home crowd, and she finished the game with 14 points. I know she had a couple of turnovers, but I'm sure she will work on better ball-handling. She's really developed her game over the course of the season, and it should worry the SEC Conference.
I'm sure Carlton's about to be on everyone's scouting reports during the SEC Tournament coming up. She's one of the go-to players for Schaefer when Rori Harmon and Madison Booker have a bad night.
4. Turnovers galore against the Bulldogs
Lastly, many high school basketball coaches across Texas are likely to rewatch this game to see if they can incorporate Texas's gritty defense into their programs. Texas forced over 20 turnovers against the Bulldogs. All I can say is that the SEC better watch out for the Longhorns when the conference tournament rolls around because Texas will be ready on defense.
Texas finishes up the regular season on Sunday morning against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
