The Longhorns were able to upset a surging, undefeated Oklahoma team by a score of 23 to 6 at the Cotton Bowl in week 7. Aside from an exciting win over their biggest rivals, fans were also finally able to see what this Texas team could look like with a competent offensive performance.

After a slow start on offense filled with what felt like nothing but screen passes in the first quarter, Arch Manning and Co. began to look more comfortable and effective as the game wore on. On the defensive side of the ball, the Longhorns were able to completely shut down a high-powered offense led by one of the nation's top up-and-coming offensive coordinators in Ben Arbuckle.

Though there were a number of excellent individual performances throughout the game, there were two players who seemingly stood out above the rest this weekend for Texas.

Offensive MVP

RB Quintrevion Wisner

Wisner finished the day with 128 total yards (94 rushing and 34 receiving), and was a workhorse for Steve Sarkisian and Co. "between the 20's" against Oklahoma. His physicality and vision was on full display throughout the entire matchup, and he converted multiple key 1st downs for Texas.

His 37-yard scamper in the 2nd quarter gave the Longhorns a much-needed morale boost after the offense stalled out a couple of times before that series. He was undoubtedly the driving force of Steve Sarkisian's offense in the matchup, and that's why he's Texas' offensive MVP for week 7.

Defensive MVP

DE Colin Simmons

Though CB Malik Muhammad had two interceptions on the day, it was Simmons who dominated Oklahoma's offense throughout the entire game. He absolutely destroyed the Sooners' offensive line, and that's something that the Longhorns' defense has been missing in 2025 so far. Texas' surprising lack of pass rush has been one of the reasons why opposing offenses have been able to move the ball through the air on occasion, unlike 2024.

Simmons had Oklahoma QB John Mateer running for his life all day long, and his season-high 2.5 sacks were crucial to the defense's success in the Red River Rivalry.
