The Texas Longhorns were able to salvage one game out of the three-game Red River Rivalry series on the softball field this season, and it is thanks to Katie Stewart's stunning walk-off home run. After dropping the first two games of the series, the Longhorns were facing a sweep scenario, but the bottom of the eighth inning changed it all.

It all started, though, with the pinch-hit home run from Hannah Wells at the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game again, this time 6-6. After a single by Kayden Henry, Stewart came up to the plate and, with a 2-0 count, was ready for the strike that came across the plate and sent the ball flying.

The moment the ball hit the bat, Stewart knew it was gone, and the Longhorns had won the game, hence her amazing bat slam in celebration.

Of course, it wouldn't be a rivalry game if the losing team didn't have something to complain about and Oklahoma fans didn't pass up the chance. Lots of Sooner fans didn't understand the bat slam when Texas had already lost the series, but let's go take a trip down memory lane for Oklahoma, shall we?

Back in 2024, in a game against the Florida Gators, a game in which the Sooners were losing at the time, the Oklahoma batter drew a walk and emphatically slammed the bat down, celebrating as if she had just won the game.

It was one walk.

So, this sounds a bit like the pot calling the kettle black here, doesn't it? Yes, Texas had already lost the series, but this was to avoid the sweep, and it was a walk-off home run, which is something Texas has never done against Oklahoma on the softball field.

Stewart, in the opinion of Texas fans, celebrated exactly how she should have for the type of hit that it was and the rivalry matchup that it was. So, Oklahoma fans can stop crying about the celebration.
