Texas Longhorns safety Michael Taaffe has officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft via an emotional message on social media today.

Taaffe, who began his career as a walk-on in 2021, ended up being one of the team's top and most well-respected defenders over the past four seasons. He began his career in a spot where most players don't even see game action, let alone stay on the team for five years.

Taaffe's leadership, attitude, and production are what makes him such a special player and human being. He'll undoubtedly be missed by everyone associated with the University of Texas, and his story will live on forever in Austin.

Longhorn Nation is so incredibly excited to see how he does in the NFL after he inevitably gets drafted in April. There's no doubt that he'll have a long and productive pro career, and the way he got there will always be incredible.
