EDGE

Lance Jackson, Texarkana (TX) 4-Star

The elite high-four-star in-state edge rusher/athlete Lance Jackson was one of Texas's highest-rated signees in the 2025 class on the defensive side of the ball. He's also one of the best athletes the Longhorns signed in this class along the front seven.

Jackson's combination of size and elite speed coming off the edge will make him a nightmare for opposing offenses to deal with up front in PK's system for the Longhorns' defense.

Regarding his insane size, athleticism, and strength, Jackson is about as good as it gets for Texas's EDGE position in this class. He'll be a multi-year starter and a future NFL early-round talent in the draft, while having the potential to be one of the most proficient edge rushers and true pass rushers in the SEC for years to come.

Smith Orogbo, Houston (TX) Alief Hastings 4-Star

Joining Jackson at the EDGE position in the Longhorns 2025 signing class is the highly touted Houston-area native edge rusher Smith Orogbo. The length, agility, and flexibility Orogbo brings to the table at the EDGE position makes him a unique problem regarding how opponents will have to block him from an offensive line perspective in college.

The 6-foot-4 Orogbo should be a starter for a couple of years at least, and work his way into the rotation at EDGE for Texas's front seven by the 2026 season.

The depth Texas already has at the EDGE position combined with the high-end talent the Longhorns added by signing Jackson and Orogbo will keep this group in good shape for many years to come along the defensive line in the SEC.
