Vince Young’s 2005 season at Texas was legendary. He led the Longhorns to a national title with 3,036 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, 1,050 rushing yards, and 12 more scores. He finished second in the Heisman and was selected third overall in the 2006 NFL draft.

Young led the Tennessee Titans to an 8-6 record in his 13 starts as a rookie and was awarded the Offensive Rookie of the Year, despite only throwing for 2,199 yards while completing 51.9% of his passes with 12 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. He ran the ball 83 times for 552 yards and seven touchdowns in that Pro Bowl season, which was the best rushing output of his career.

Tennessee almost certainly expected a second-year leap from Young and while he did complete 62.3% of his passes in 2007 and threw for 2,546 yards, he also threw 17 interceptions to nine touchdowns and his rushing production disappeared.

In the first game of the 2008 season, Young injured his knee and while it was only a 2-3 week injury, Jeff Fisher went with Kerry Collins as the starter for the rest of the season and he led the Titans to 13-3.

Young was given his starting job back in 2009 after Collins got Tennessee off to an 0-6 start and Young made his second Pro Bowl after leading the team to an 8-2 record in his 10 starts.

In 2010, he came back down to earth, and after a Week 11 altercation with Jeff Fisher, was benched and only played one more season in the NFL. Even the two Pro Bowl seasons don’t hold up under further evaluation of his stats. Vince Young was not a franchise quarterback, and that was the expectation coming out of the draft.
