No. 3 Texas football thrashed the defending National Champions and No. 10 ranked Michigan Wolverines and first-year head coach Sherrone Moore at the Big House on Sep. 7. Texas was in complete control on both sides of the ball for pretty much the entire game in the 31-12 victory over Michigan in Week 2, establishing head coach Steve Sarkisian's squad as a bona fide title contender.

The big win for Texas football over Michigan sends shockwaves on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns

It wasn't only the victory on the field against Michigan that saw the Longhorns win big as a program this weekend. Texas also scored a big victory on the recruiting trail this weekend, with four-star Port Charlotte (FA) defensive lineman Myron Charles flipping his commitment from the Florida State Seminoles to the Longhorns after the conclusion of the Michigan game on Sep. 7.

The win over Michigan will continue to give the Longhorns a big jolt on the recruiting trail for the 2025 cycle as well as in future classes. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has this program where he wants it to be in the inaugural season in the SEC this fall, which will only make top recruits want to come to Texas more now and in the future.

Here are 10 key recruits for the Longhorns impressed by the big double-digit win over Michigan in Week 2.

Chris Stewart, WR (Texas commit)

Four-star Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek wide receiver and Texas commit Chris Stewart is the only wideout committed to the Longhorns in the 2026 class. Stewart has been impressed with the way Texas's offense has performed on the field in the season's first two weeks.

Sarkisian and the Longhorns really caught Stewart's attention with their play calling an execution on offense this weekend in the win over Michigan.

Stewart told Horns247 that he "expected" Texas to win this game. He "loved how the offense moved the ball all game and kept the pressure on the defense", as starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns put up over 30 points on a Michigan defense loaded with NFL talent at all three levels.
