Caleb Bell (Arkansas commit)

The first SEC defensive line commit the Longhorns offered in the 2025 class this week was Milton (GA) three-star and Arkansas Razorbacks pledge Caleb Bell. The 6-foot-3 and 270-pound defensive lineman from Georgia who committed to Arkansas in mid-June said in a post on his X account that Texas offered him on Aug. 14.

Caleb is the son of former NFL linebacker and the 2001 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kendrell Bell.

At just around 270 pounds, Bell fits more of the mould of a true three-tech defensive tackle in the SEC who can moved around and play more on the outside at the 4i or five-tech at the line of scrimmage. He brings good length and a consistent motor, which results in a relentless effort player defending against the run and a pretty explosive interior pass rusher who can collapse the pocket quickly when he gets a quick get-off.

Bell committed to Arkansas on June 19, after taking a successful official visit to Fayetteville the weekend prior from June 14-16. He also chose Arkansas over other schools he officially visited this summer, like the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and NC State Wolfpack.

Both defensive linemen that the Longhorns offered this week in the 2025 class are committed to SEC schools with head coaches on the hot seat entering this fall. Regarding Arkansas' situation with head coach Sam Pittman, another losing season could mean that he's shown the door in Fayetteville by the end of the 2024 campaign.

It's strategic for the Longhorns to offer possible flip targets along the defensive line right before the fall, when there is at least a decent chance that one of these two SEC head coaches won't be in their current positions by November or December.
