2 early-June 2025 official visitors trending to Texas
Michael Terry III, ATH
Possibly the biggest move the Longhorns made with any early-June official visitor last weekend was with the elite five-star San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry III. Texas made an extremely positive impression on Terry with their pitch for him to either play hybrid linebacker/defensive back on defense or tight end on offense.
Multiple Texas coaches were involved in Terry's recruitment over the weekend. Texas special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and running backs coach Tashard Choice were pitching Terry as a JT Sanders-type at tight end for the Longhorns.
The pitch for Terry to play the defensive side of the ball saw Pete Kwiatkowski and Blake Gideon talking to him about filling that hybrid chess piece role similar to what Jelani McDonald plays now for the Longhorns.
Following the conclusion of his official visit to Texas last weekend, the Longhorns and Oregon Ducks are reportedly the schools leading his recruitment. He still has official visits remaining to see Texas A&M (June 13) and Oregon (June 21) this summer.
It definitely seems like Texas has the edge in this recruitment at this exact moment. But things can still change in Terry's recruitment when he takes the officials to College Station and Eugene in the next two weekends.
Texas's chances with Terry could depend on where they ultimately plan to put him at positionally and when he's ready to announce. Terry doesn't have a concrete decision timeline at this point of the offseason.
