2 elite 2025 recruits Texas is trending for this weekend
Javion Hilson, EDGE
If Texas decides to take another commitment from an edge rusher recruit in the 2025 class this fall, it would be the elite Cocoa (FL) high-four-star and former Florida State pledge Javion Hilson. The No. 2 edge rusher recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite has been trending toward Texas since he re-opened his recruitment a couple of weeks ago in early September.
Texas has emerged as the pretty clear favorite to ultimately land Hilson's commitment since he de-committed from Florida State on Sep. 8. 247Sports' Tom Loy reported last week that "it's hard to see anyone beating Texas" for Hilson this fall on the recruiting trail.
Hilson is expected to take an unofficial visit to Texas for the SEC opener against the Mississippi State Bullogs at DKR next weekend. The gameday visit to DKR next weekend will be Hilson's first return trip to Texas since he took an official visit to Austin in early June.
It also sounds like it's not out of the realm of possibility that Hilson makes more than one unofficial gameday visit to Texas this fall during SEC play.
Texas has already taken a good bit from Florida State's 2025 recruiting class this fall, namely flipping the commitment of the blue-chip defensive tackle from Port Charlotte, FL, Charles a couple of weeks ago. The Longhorns are also expected to host both four-star Florida State wide receiver commit Daylan McCutcheon and Hilson for unofficial visits for the Mississippi State game in the SEC opener on Sep. 28 at DKR.
