Texas football and the Michigan Wolverines haven't engaged on all that many high profile battles for top prospects on the recruiting trail in the history of both storied college football programs.

A couple of key Michigan contributors held Texas football offers as high school recruits

But the the trend of recruiting going more nationwide in this modern day and age of college sports with NIL and the transfer portal, along with social media and the internet expanding broadcast capabilities, have increased the reach of recruiting for Texas and Michigan from coast-to-coast.

The most recent round of conference realignment has also impacted how recruiting goes in this day and age of college football. Michigan is now part of a Big Ten conference that literally spans coast-to-coast across the United States with its 18 member schools.

Michigan has landed multiple commitments from recruits in the 2025 class from the state of Texas. That just goes to show how the reach of a blue blood program with national brand recognition like Michigan can have far reaching impacts even in the state of Texas, where the Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies were accustomed to dominating in-state on the recruiting trail.

This is a trend that can go both ways, though. Multiple Texas commitments in the 2025 class also hold offers and had interest from Michigan before they pledged to the Longhorns.

With Texas and Michigan set to square off in a highly-anticipated Week 2 top-10 showdown in Ann Arbor on Sep. 7, it's a good time to look at which players for each squad were recruited by the other. Here are two of Michigan's top players on the roster this year who had Texas offers as recruits coming out of high school on the trail.
