Despite getting off to a slow start where they were down 8-2 early in the first half, 7-seed Texas basketball found its groove around the halfway point in the first half against the 10-seed Colorado State Rams. Texas went on an insane 25-3 run to close out the first half, giving them a commanding 27-11 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

Texas got going around the 15-minute mark of the first half despite slow starts offensively from senior guard Max Abmas and senior big man Dylan Disu. Abmas and Disu combined to shoot just 3-of-15 from the field and 1-of-8 from deep in the first half.

But Abmas made up for the slow start to the first half with a nice buzzer-beater three-pointer from the logo in the dying seconds of the clock.

Colorado State went on a run of its own to start the second half. In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Colorado State had more than cut Texas's 16-point halftime lead in half. The Longhorns and Rams went back and forth down the stretch.

Texas came back to close out the game late in the second half to win by a score of 56-44. The Longhorns advance to the second round for the third year in a row.

Texas will play the winner of two-seed Tennessee against 15-seed Saint Peter's in the second round.

Here are two studs and one dud from the Longhorns' suffocating win over Colorado State in the Round of 64 on March 21.

Stud: Tyrese Hunter, G

The first half that junior guard Tyrese Hunter had for the Longhorns in this game was huge. He scored a team-high seven points on over 50 percent shooting from the field while going perfect on a few attempts from the charity stripe in the first half.

While Hunter's production on the offensive end slowed in the second half, his effort and results on defense didn't. Hunter finished this game with a couple of steals and four defensive rebounds.

Many of Hunter's baskets came in transition off of Colorado State turnovers. He helped Texas win the points off turnovers battle by a margin of 17. Colorado State didn't score a single point off of Texas turnovers in this game.

Another way that Hunter positive impacted this game for the Longhorns was his facilitation of the offense. Hunter registered a few assists, primarily coming on lobs to his teammates.

Hunter was a big part of the Longhorns coming up with this big grind-it-out victory in a low-scoring contest for the Longhorns.
