Sports Illustrated included two Texas Longhorns as part of their 2024 Power List, including professional golfer Scottie Scheffler and director of swimming and diving Bob Bowman.

Texas Longhorns nab two spots on Sports Illustrated's 2024 Power List

Scheffler was one of only two PGA Tour golfers included on the SI Power List for 2024, with the other being the legendary Tiger Woods. The former Longhorns star golfer had a tremendous year on the course, owning the No. 1 spot in the PGA Tour Rankings throughout 2024, winning an Olympic Gold Medal, and winning another Green Jacket at The Masters.

He has won The Masters twice (2022 and 2024) and has claimed back-to-back Players Championships (2023 and 2024).

The 28-year-old Dallas, TX, native Scheffler was a three-time All-American during his collegiate golf career at Texas from 2015-2018.

Bowman, meanwhile, was one of just four coaches/managers included among the 50 sports figures in SI's Power List for 2024. His impact in the worlds of swimming and diving can't be overstated, and he's been spotlighted in a big way during a Summer Olympic year in 2024.

With over 25 years of coaching and training experience in the pool, Bowman helped develop the most decorated Olympic swimmer of all-time, Michael Phelps.

Bowman was one of the biggest hires Texas athletic director Chris del Conte has made during his time on the Forty Acres. Texas hired Bowman away from the Arizona State Sun Devils swim program, where he had served from 2015-2023.

He was also the USA Swimming coach for the US World Championships and the Olympics a combined 11 times since the turn of the century.

This is the second year of Sports Illustrated's Power List, which was first released in August 2023, but 2024 is the first time with multiple Longhorns included among the most "influential figures in sports".
