The NCAA Transfer Portal movement for Texas football has picked up following the conclusion of the Orange-White spring football game last weekend. In the last few hours since the writing of this article on the afternoon of April 22, Texas has lost two players to the transfer portal and added one at a position of need along the defensive line.

Texas football loses a couple of RBs to the portal post-spring game

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff shored up the depth along the interior defensive line on April 22 with a transfer commitment from former Arizona Wildcats redshirt senior Bill Norton.

The portal is a two-way street, though. And the Longhorns needed to get their scholarship numbers on the roster down below the limit of 85 amid the spring portal window opening on April 16.

Most of the Longhorns portal departures this spring were not players that Texas wanted to lose. But roster attrition was necessary to address key positions of need, namely at defensive tackle, post-spring ball.

The first two running back portal departures were early this week for the Longhorns during the spring window. The additions of true freshmen/early enrollee running backs Jerrick Gibson and Christian Clark brought more competition to the RB room this spring.

Here's a look at the two Longhorns running backs who entered the transfer portal on April 22.
