The regular season conference champion Texas softball begins its quest for the 2024 Big 12 Softball Tournament crown on May 9 in Oklahoma City, OK. No. 1 ranked Texas (in the latest AP Poll) faces the eight-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders in a rematch of the regular season finale series last weekend in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday.

After head coach Mike White and the Longhorns swept the Red Raiders in a historically-dominant showing last weekend, Texas has a shot to keep the momentum going entering the Big 12 Tournament. Texas run-ruled Texas Tech in five innings, winning each of the three games in a series sweep in Lubbock last weekend by double digit margins.

That included a 23-0 thrashing of the Red Raiders in which star sophomore Reese Atwood broke a single-game program record with nine runs batted in on May 4.

If the Longhorns win the Big 12 Tournament crown, it would be the first time in over two decades (since 2003) that Texas won the regular season and postseason conference titles in the same year.
