The 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament Selection Show decides the 64-team tourney field on May 12. The Big 12 has three of the top teams vying for top seeds as regional hosts in the postseason, including the No. 1 Texas Longhorns, No. 2 Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners.

Oklahoma claimed the Big 12 Tournament crown this weekend with a 5-1 win in the final over the Longhorns. That puts the Sooners in the conversation with the Longhorns for the top overall seed in the NCAA Softball Tournament this postseason.

The path for each team in the college softball postseason will begin with the selection show on May 12. Regionals begin less than one week after the selection show, from May 17-19.

After regionals are decided, super regionals begin on May 23 to determine which eight teams will play in the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, OK, between May 30 and June 7.

Texas’ latest Field of 64 projections for the postseason

The latest Bracketology from D1Softball projects the Longhorns as the top overall seed, hosting the Austin Regional this postseason. Oklahoma is projected by D1Softball as the second-seed behind Texas.

Oklahoma State is the third of three Big 12 teams projected to host a regional this postseason.

The three teams projected by D1Softball to play in the Austin Regional are the No. 2 Northwestern Wildcats, No. 3 Boston University, and No. 4 Siena Saints.
