Amid the bye week for No. 2 Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian, the College Football Playoff 12-team bracket predictions were thrown into near-complete chaos in Week 6 of the 2024 season. Week 6 was easily the craziest week of upsets we've seen in a long time in one weekend.

Post-Week 6 2024 College Football Playoff Predictions following the chaos of Oct. 5

The highlight of the slew of upsets we saw around the college football landscape last weekend was the Vanderbilt Commodores getting its first-ever upset against an AP No. 1 ranked opponent against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at home on Oct. 5. Vanderbilt fans ripped out the field goal posts at their home stadium and dropped them into the river in Nashville to celebrate the historic win over the Tide this weekend.

Other ranked teams that fell to unranked foes last weekend included the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers, No. 10 Michigan Wolverines, No. 11 USC Trojans, and No. 22 Louisville Cardinals. Tennessee was shockingly upset on the road by one possession by the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville.

Michigan and USC were also heavily favored teams that fell to unranked Big Ten foes in Week 6.

Here's a look at the updated 12-team College Football Playoff bracket predictions following a shocking weekend of upsets in Week 6.

The big week of upsets on Oct. 5 around the college football landscape, and a handful of near-upsets for top-ranked teams, caused two squads to fall completely out of this week's top 12. The Miami Hurricanes no longer hold the projected spot for the ACC Champion after two near-upsets against unranked ACC foes in the Virginia Tech Hokies and Cal Golden Bears in the past two weeks.

USC was also dropped from this week's Playoff projections after faltering against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Big Ten play.

After being upset by Vandy on the road, Alabama is the biggest faller in this week's Playoff projections. The Tide and first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer held the No. 1 spot in last week's Playoff rankings.

One team has re-entered the Playoff bracket predictions this week, the No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies after dominating the No. 9 Mizzou Tigers in College Station.

The No. 18 Indiana Hoosiers make its first appearance in the Playoff projections this season after a convincing double-digit road win in Week 6 over the Northwestern Wildcats.

Texas is back up to the top spot in this week's rankings. The Longhorns and No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes are the only two squads with over a 90 percent chance of making the Playoff this season (per ESPN's Allstate Playoff Predictor).

The three teams on the outside looking in for this week's Playoff projections are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ole Miss Rebels, and Miami (in order from top to bottom).
