3 2025 blue-chip recruits Texas could flip this weekend

It is expected that Texas can flip at least a couple more blue-chip commitments from other P4 schools on the trail this fall in the 2025 class before signing day.

Texas football has some serious momentum built on the recruiting trail in the 2025 and 2026 classes this fall. In the last couple of months alone, Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian have secured a handful of five-star commitments in the 2025 and 2026 classes.

Top remaining flip targets in late September for Texas football in the 2025 class

The next month or so on the recruiting trail will be crucial for the Longhorns in the 2025 class. Texas has some of the biggest visit weekends of the entire fall coming up before the end of October. The biggest visit weekend for the Longhorns among key 2025 prospects on the trail will be for the highly anticipated matchup in the SEC in Austin on Oct. 19 against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs.

A top-three-ranked class in the nation for the 2025 cycle in the 247Sports Composite is well within reach for Sarkisian and the Longhorns over the next few months. Texas currently has 20 recruits committed in the 2025 class. And the Longhorns have multiple blue-chip flip targets and uncommitted recruits in their sights for this cycle who will be visiting Austin in the next couple of months.

Texas also has a shot to pull off a commitment flip or two before the Georgia game comes around in a few weeks. Here's a prediction of which recruits the Longhorns could flip in the 2025 class this weekend entering the conference opener in the SEC against Mississippi State on Sep. 28.

Kelshaun Johnson, WR (Texas A&M commit)

Texas is looking to add at least one more blue-chip wide receiver commitment in the 2025 class before signing day in early December. Chris Jackson and the Longhorns already have two five-star wide receivers committed in the 2025 class, Sachse's (TX) Kaliq Lockett and Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin's Jaime Ffrench.

One of the in-state wide receiver flip targets the Longhorns are pursuing on the trail in the 2025 class this fall is the speedy Hitchcock (TX) four-star and Texas A&M Aggies commit Kelshaun Johnson. Texas has been chipping away at Johnson's commitment to the Aggies in the last couple of months.

Johnson committed to the Aggies over the Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks back in mid-July. But Texas has remained in communication with Johnson pretty regularly in the past couple of months. Johnson is scheduled to see Texas for the Georgia game on Oct. 19.

This weekend, Johnson is scheduled to be in Dallas to see Texas A&M take on Arkansas.

There has been some heightened communication between the Longhorns and Johnson in recent weeks. Texas is dialing up the notch on its top wide receiver flip targets in the 2025 class, while they've seen great success on the field this fall at the skill positions.
