3 best opposing SEC QBs Texas faces in 2024
2. Conner Weigman, Texas A&M
The Longhorns' inaugural season in the SEC means the return of the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry game in 2024. A rivalry that hasn't been played since 2011 when the Longhorns walked-off on Thanksgiving with a win thanks to a game-winning field goal kick from the legendary kicker Justin Tucker will finally resume after over a decade of being dormant.
Texas A&M is expected to be led by redshirt sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman this season after he suffered a couple of injuries that limited his time on the field in the previous two years. Weigman got off to a solid start for the Aggies last year, registering nearly 1,000 passing yards, 10 total touchdowns, and just two interceptions over three complete starts before getting injured against Auburn in the SEC opener.
That foot injury he suffered against the Tigers in Week 4 knocked Weigman out for the rest of his sophomore season. Before he was injured last season, Weigman was one of the five-highest-graded passers in the Power Five (according to PFF).
If Weigman stays healthy for a full season, the Aggies offense should be very dangerous under first-year head coach Mike Elko and new offensive coordinator Collin Klein.
Since Klein is very familiar with Texas and Pete Kwiatkowski's defense from his time in the last half-decade or so at Kansas State in the Big 12, this should be a great matchup schematically when Weigman and the Aggies take on the Longhorns in College Station this fall.
