1. Carson Beck, Georgia

The quarterback who many regard as the class of the SEC for this position group, Georgia's Carson Beck, has a top-end skill set garnering first-round NFL Draft hype for 2025. Beck was tremendous in his first year as Georgia's starting quarterback in 2023.

As a redshirt junior last year, Beck threw for nearly 4,000 yards, a 72.4 completion percentage, and 24 passing touchdowns with just six picks. Beck also totaled 28 touchdowns, including his four rushing scores last season.

It's also noteworthy that Beck is the highest-graded returning thrower in the Power Five in 2024.

All this hype surrounding Georgia, and Beck specifically, has many predicting the back-to-back National Champions in 2021-22 and 2022-23 to win their third in years in the new 12-team Playoff this season.

Beck is also considered one of the odds-on Heisman favorites as a top returning quarterback in college football. He and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers could realistically be two of the three Heisman finalists this year if the Longhorns and Bulldogs fulfill the preseason hype (which many pundits and fans expect them to do).

ESPN actually proclaimed Beck the No. 1 quarterback in college football in its 2024 ranking.

What makes the matchup for the Longhorns defense so interesting and difficult against Georgia is the fact that Beck and their offense have so many weapons to choose from. Despite losing first-round pick at tight end, Brock Bowers, Georgia returns multiple starting receivers and has two capable receiving tight ends to replace at least some of his production in 2024.

Junior Oscar Delp and Stanford transfer Ben Yurosek should make for a very effective receiving tight end duo for Beck and the Georgia passing game to not miss a step after losing Bowers and Ladd McConkey after last season.

Georgia's ground game with new Florida RB transfer Trevor Etienne and experienced offensive line makes Beck's prospects in the passing game even more potent since they can keep you off balance by staying balanced.

As off-putting as that may sound, I think many Texas fans expect this matchup against Georgia to be one of the best games at DKR in a long time since it could feature the No. 1 ranked team nationally at the time when they meet this fall.
