3 big overreactions after Texas's dismantling of UTSA
Jahdae Barron is the most underrated defensive back in the SEC
Senior defensive back Jahdae Barron has gotten off to a tremendous start this season for the Longhorns playing in the secondary. Barron's transition over to playing more as a true corner for the Texas secondary this fall has really paid dividends for the entire defensive side of the ball and the effectiveness of this group.
Barron has been a critical leader for Texas's secondary this fall, providing consistency and stability at one of the corner spots alongside sophomore standout Malik Muhammad at boundary CB.
"No, I’m telling you, big hats off to all of the coaching staff, just the way they recruit and the way we bring talent in, and then the way they develop talent. I mean, they do a tremendous job. I truly mean it, if you want to be developed and be a better person on and off the field, I say come to the University of Texas. They built me into a better person, a better man, and they’re bringing all these young guys, and you can see the talent and the growth that they’re having from a physical standpoint."

It's not only the leadership he provides, but also the effectiveness in pass coverage in one-on-one matchups this season. Barron can be trusted to hold his own in one-on-one coverage in different man and zone coverage schemes for Pete Kwiatkowski and the Longhorns.
After the season's first three weeks, Barron is the highest-graded defensive back in the SEC. The value he provides has also translated not only in pass coverage, but also contesting space and defending the run. Barron was Texas's highest-graded run defender, coming up with two run stops and one run stuff against a UTSA ground game that averaged under four yards per carry.
Barron played a big role in helping to create so many negative and zero-yardage plays for the UTSA offense this weekend.
