3 commitments Texas can get in the next week
Nick Townsend, TE
Expected decision date*: July 15
Among the high-priority recruits on the offensive side of the ball in the 2025 class for the Longhorns this summer is a "must-get" tight end prospect in my opinion who could really take this position to a new level. The highly touted Spring (TX) Dekaney four-star tight end Nick Townsend decides between a few schools, including Texas, on July 15.
Townsend will decide between the Alabama Crimson Tide, USC Trojans, Texas A&M, and Texas during his announcement ceremoney at Dekaney late afternoon on Monday (July 15).
Alabama, Texas A&M, and Texas were all battling it out on the recruiting trail in the race to land Townsend's commitment entering summer official visits. The Tide were considered the frontrunners by many entering summer visits, but Texas quickly closed that gap and took the lead in this recruitment after they started trending coming out of Townsend's June official visit to Austin.
Texas has remained the favorite to win this recruitment ever since summer officials wrapped up for Townsend a few weeks ago.
It doesn't sound like anything has changed in this recruitment in the last week or so that would make us think that Townsend has changed his mind leading up to his announcement. If Texas is the pick for Townsend early next week, he would be the highest-rated tight end commitment for the Longhorns during the Steve Sarkisian-era.
This will be a massive recruiting win on the trail for 2025 if Jeff Banks and Co. seal the deal with Townsend when he announces next Monday.
