Smith Orogbo, EDGE

One of the hottest prospects in Texas on the defensive side of the ball in the 2025 class this spring is the elite high-four-star Houston (TX) Alief Hastings edge rusher Smith Orogbo. The 6-foot-4 and 210-pound EDGE has an extremely busy spring and summer visit schedule.

During the spring, Orogbo saw nearly a half-dozen schools. And he currently has official visits scheduled to see the Mizzou Tigers (May 29-June 2), Texas Tech Red Raiders (June 7-9), Kansas Jayhawks (June 12-14), Texas (June 14-16), and Oklahoma Sooners (June 21-23).

The USC Trojans, Oklahoma State Cowboys, TCU Horned Frogs, and Washington Huskies are also possibilities to get official visits from Orogbo during the summer or in the fall before signing day.

Texas hosted Orogbo for an unofficial visit during spring practice on April 6. He's kept in consistent communication with the Texas coaches in the last month since his unofficial trip to Austin concluded in early April.

While Orogbo's recruitment still has many schools involved, Texas and Oklahoma are two to watch moving forward. As it stands now, the Longhorns and Sooners will get the two final official visits from Orogbo during the summer. The ability to get those late-summer official visits can give schools an inside track with top prospects on the recruiting trail.

If Texas can keep the momentum going on the recruiting trail with Orogbo in the next couple of months, they will be right there among his top schools when he's ready to decide before the start of his senior season.
