3 elite recruits trending to Texas entering the bye week
Javion Hilson, EDGE
Texas's top remaining edge rusher priority out-of-state in the 2025 class on the recruiting trail this fall is Cocoa (FL) high-four-star Javion Hilson. The No. 2 edge rusher recruit in the nation in the 247Sports Composite and (No. 3) On3 Industry Ranking was scheduled to unofficially visit Texas last weekend for the SEC opener at DKR on Sep. 28 against Mississippi State.
But the weather and damage surrounding Hurricane Helene this past week all up and down the East Coast prevented Hilson from making it out of Florida for the Texas game last weekend.
It's highly likely that Hilson will reschedule that gameday trip to Texas for another SEC contest at DKR this fall, potentially for either the Georgia game on Oct. 19 or against the Florida Gators on Nov. 9.
Despite Hilson missing the gameday trip last weekend, Texas is still widely considered to be the favorite in this recruitment. Since Hilson decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles a few weeks ago, Texas almost immediately started trending as the favorite here.
Two other schools that are still pushing in this recruitment for Hilson this fall on the trail are the UCF Knights and Florida. But Texas has emerged as the pretty clear favorite in the race to land Hilson's commitment whenever he's ready to make his final decision before signing day in a couple of months.
