3 important Texas recruiting targets entering the summer
By Brian Sweet
Texas Football had a fantastic season last fall as they finished their final season in the Big 12 Conference. They won the Big 12 Championship and almost earned a spot in the National Championship game against the Michigan Wolverines.
The Longhorns lost a lot of talent to the NFL Draft and will need to hit the recruiting trail for 2025 recruits to fill those voids. Here are some of the top 2025 recruits that the Longhorns should focus on this summer.
Top 2025 Texas Football Recruits: 3. WR Kaliq Lockett
Lockett is one of the top wide receivers in Texas in the class of 2025. After losing Xavier Worthy and Adoni Mitchell to the NFL Draft, the Longhorns must get some depth behind players like Isiah Bond, Silas Bolden, and Matthew Golden.
With college football players entering the transfer portal every year after the season, the Longhorns might need Lockett as a weapon for Arch Manning. It would be good if they focused some of their recruiting efforts on an offensive weapon for Arch Manning.
Top 2025 Texas Football Recruits: 2. Offensive Line Ty Haywood
The four-star offensive tackle out of Dention Ryan High School is another player that the Longhorns should look at. He's already being recruited by three SEC schools, Alabama, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma.
Manning will need an offensive lineman to protect him as they enter their second season of SEC football. He would be an anchor on the offensive line for the Longhorns. Haywood would be an excellent addition to the Forty Acres.
Top 2025 Texas Football Recruits: 1. TE Kiotti Armstrong
Kiotti Armstrong is the last player the Longhorns should target this summer for their 2025 recruiting class. He is the third-best tight end in Texas and would be another weapon for Manning.
With the type of offense Sarkisian likes to run, he could be a multi-dimensional tight end who could help with blocking or catching passes. Armstrong reminds me of former Longhorns tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders. That is a pretty solid comparison for one of the best players in Texas.
